Podcasting Project

NOTE: National Public Radio is running a podcasting contest. You can read about it here. If you would like to enter, talk to me, and use their guidelines.

Record and edit a 3.5 to 5 minute podcast.

You will have this week and next week to do this.

Here is a diagram to help you understand the structure of your podcast:

Click here for some ideas about what to talk about.

Click here to hear a podcast. This one is longer and fancier than the one you'll make, but it has music at the beginning and at the end, and it has talking in the middle.

Requirements:

• An intro -- 15 seconds or less. Fade the music out at the end before the main conversation begins.

• An outro -- 15 seconds or less. Fade the music in after the main conversation ends, and (optional) fade it out when the music ends.

• Music that you create--can be in the intro and outro.

• 3.5 to 5 minutes total length.

• Show care and effort.

Suggestions for recording audio: Use the voice memo on your phone, Twisted Wave (twistedwave.com), or audiovoicerecorder.com, or Zoom (if you're doing an interview). Click here for recording tips.

Finding copyright-free music and sound effects: Click Music or Sound Effects in the menu bar of the Pixabay site.

Editing: I would use GarageBand. Click here to see a screenshot of how to arrange the tracks. On your Chromebook, you can use Twisted Wave (twistedwave.com). The free version is limited to 5 minutes. Log in using Google.
